Being a photographer, I always have to laugh when mommies tell me they count on ME to get their Christmas card portraits or those coveted sibling shots that they have NOT been able to get no matter how hard they try! Well, I always say right back that it’s not my camera or me—it’s having someone ELSE take their pictures!!! So, while I attempt every year to photograph MY OWN kids…I usually get the SAME results my clients doย with their own children…and that is the reason professional photographers have to call on professional photographers to capture their own families:)
BUT, I also have to say that it’s the craziness in your own pictures that you will treasure later. RIGHT?! And I’m not diggin’ Google Bloggers small pictures any more—so maybe these are too big but that’s the way I like to take in portraits:).
I can’t help but go cross-eyed behind the lens when my kids don’t do what I want them to! Isn’t that the story of our lives?! But, look who the only one cooperating is:
OK, so maybe no one cooperates for momma. But this image reminded me of the One we are serving and holding fast to each and every day…among the craziness and all…makes me think of “Shine Your light down and let the whole world see, we’re singing for the glory of the risen King…”
The Lord is reminding us that He is with us every step of the way! He will not leave us!
My bestfriend Kelly joined us for a few pictures. We want to try and photograph our kids every year together. We had this really great idea—put our babies on the other side of the fence…and they would all beautifully and adorably peek-a-boo under and over…this isn’t quite what we were going for…
OR this…
OK…you really couldn’t send that one out as a card now could you?! I know Kelly wondered why I was still snapping away…I just couldn’t help to with their craziness…they were all just doing their own thing and I just had to capture it anyway!
These two are bestbuds like their mommas…I could just gobble these too up and tickle them to pieces!
So no one cooperated. Well…almost no one. Look who hammed it up for momma! Love this toothy grin!
Gotta get to designing *MY* Christmas cards since I’ve designed and have been done with all my clients cards for awhile now. Gotta get my creative juices flowing for something fun. I’ll post it after I send them out…and I’ve been horrible at keeping addresses so email me your address if you want one of ours! I think I’m going to be a nerd and write a family letter this year and maybe even toss in bookmarks asking our friends to pray for Baby Young in 2010:).
And guess what?! There’s LOTS of babies getting to meet their forever families NEXT week…and another group traveling over 2 weeks later!!! That means…more referrals are coming and our numbers will be going down in December! Can’t wait to share our new numbers in December!!!
XOXO!
Andrea
P.S. I apologize for the massive size of these images! I was tired of blogger’s tiny size—so I tried something new…now I have to figure out how to make them a wee bit smaller so they actually fit on the computer screen! OH well…for now, enjoy the massive blog gallery;)

I still think the pictures are cute and funny ๐
That is funny that you can't get your kids to pose for you ๐
I am so excited for all the families traveling and I am really hopeful that numbers will start going down in December!!!
This post made me laugh out loud! I love it!
Love the pics- bigger is great! Hey, it is the memories behind the pics that make it fun anyway. Just reminds us that our lives are real….not fairy tales ๐
Adorable! Love the bigger photos. Please let us know how you to post them in the larger sizes.
