half way there!!! {and a few fun pictures from our day}

We are hoping to raise $2,000 for Margret’s surgery by next week–and just after posting the need yesterday…we are HALF WAY THERE! (Yes!!! Can you believe it??!!! $1,000 has been raised in ONE night!) Sooooo exciting! One of my Zambia trip teammates just sent me this precious picture of Margret. She is just so precious…and I can’t wait for her to hear she is going to finally get treatment!

Isn’t she beautiful??!! And although her foot can’t fit in a soccer shoe–she was DETERMINED to play soccer with the other children while we were there so she could get a ribbon too!!! (To hear about how YOU can join us in helping Margret, please read my previous post!)

AND THEN…a few fun pictures from our day!

Unfortunately–after 2 years with no losses…our team lost their first soccer game by 1 point. My little man was disappointed BUT they played well–and so proud of my little man.

We had a restful afternoon and did some yard work and some prep for our really fun AFRICAN ADOPTION FELLOWSHIP!!! AND…guess what today’s gathering was??? It was our 1 Year Anniversary doing life together!!!! I adore these families–and I’m so thankful that are families are growing up together, raising our children together and that our children love one another!

The kids were READY for it to get dark so we could do what we LOVE to do at these meetings…SMORES by the fire! Sorry–didn’t get any smores pictures because Rachel Campbell and I were TOO busy passing out ingredients:)…but here’s another of more of the kids before it got dark…

Tonight was our Fall Festival Fun night…complete with apple bobbing, beanbag toss, pin-the-tail on the donkey and of course freeze tag. I am SO thankful we made an effort to start this group ONE year ago this month…and we all see how important it is to our children too. I think it is so important for our children to get to be with other families JUST like ours–and for these kids who are trans-racially adopted to have STRONG bonds all the way from babyhood to growing up with one another…that I know will be so beneficial and meaningful all the way up to adulthood. I talk to so many adoption families who wish they could have a group like this to meet regularly with–so I encourage you to reach out and START one if that is you!!! Angie Carley and I tag-teamed the first meeting a year ago–and we just invited our adoption friends we knew of in our area…and how it has grown!!! We have rejoiced together! Cheered at the airports during homecomings together! Celebrated many birthdays together! These nights are our priority for our children more than any other gathering we do…and we just loooove the families who the Lord has brought into our family–and I truly feel these people are our family!!!

SOOOO thankful for these mommas! (Only about half of us were here tonight!) But here’s half our momma crew…

It’s just been a year together…and we’ve already been through more with the waiting, traveling, praying desperately for court dates, etc…for one another. So thankful to be on and in this journey with so many precious families. Happy 1 year together to some of my favorite friends in the whole wide world!

XOXO,

Andrea
