A Place to Dream {art space for the littles}

When Rico Suave has to venture off for a work assignment for a few days–momma thinks its fun to create things and surprise him on a finished project. We have a spare room in our basement–that would make an ideal media room…only we aren’t really a “media” family. Sure we watch occasional movies…but we aren’t […]

My husband is a builder and I’d never tackle something like this. You are my hero. I love this and I’m totally copying!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Great job mama!

Alison - May 15, 2011 - 11:24 pm

Andrea, you totally amaze me! When Jody goes out of town, I just try to survive with the kids by myself! ๐Ÿ™‚ But I love that you build art rooms for your kids!!! I am truly amazed!

Elle J - May 15, 2011 - 11:45 pm

You are amazing. This is so fantastic and you did it all by yourself. I like the breakdown of where you got every.single.item. =) You rock!!! Happy Crafting!!!

Mama Mimi - May 16, 2011 - 2:40 am

This is totally awesome and inspiring – thank you for sharing!!! Makes me REALLY wish we had a playroom for the kids…because as much as I love it, I don’t think I want it on my living room wall. =)

Ia Williams - May 16, 2011 - 6:36 am

You are absolutely amazing. I love it

Christy - May 16, 2011 - 6:51 am

That is beautiful! How in the world did you get that done with your husband out of town? An all nighter or something? You are amazing!

Courtney - May 16, 2011 - 8:04 am

Love this idea! Don’t have any kiddos yet, but this will be a must when I do!

Elizabeth Smtih - May 16, 2011 - 9:12 am

Girl… really… where do you find the time? Amazing project! Wish I had room in my house!

Cara - May 16, 2011 - 9:12 am

Cute- love it!!!

SleepyMom - May 16, 2011 - 9:27 am

Have you seen the dry erase Crayons? They are awesome! I just bought some at Michaels because my 2yr old can’t be trusted with dry erase markers plus they smell bad and dry out if the caps get left out. The crayons work great and show up really well. I got the pack for a black dry erase board – ~$5 for a pack of 10.
Your art center is amazing! Would definitely not tackle that on my own.

Liz - May 16, 2011 - 10:01 am

This is sooooooo cool!!! You are a rock star! Thanks for the step by step…..I may pass along to my carpenter brother with 2 kids…maybe he could crank one of these puppies out! Such a cool idea!!!

Briana - May 16, 2011 - 10:12 am

Great job! This is amazing!

Kelly - May 16, 2011 - 9:24 pm

Every school teacher’s dream… ๐Ÿ™‚ Looks like you are going to have a nice homeschooling area maybe!?!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

A God of Joy…a God of details…

Have you ever thought about when someone tells you, “God has been putting you on my heart lately…” that you USUALLY think that to mean that you MUST be going through something hard so the Lord is putting you on someone’s heart to pray for. WELL…I really do believe He does that—but do you ever […]

Beautiful post Andrea! I love hearing the little everyday ways that God speaks to his children…it is always SUCH an affirmation of His great love for us.

Kim - May 13, 2011 - 11:44 am

What a beautiful blessing to be in tune with His voice.

Rory Cookman - May 13, 2011 - 12:12 pm

I think you are a good kind of crazy and I 100% believe God speaks to us like that, so it was encouraging to read someone else experiences that too. God does care about every detail and thank you for reminding me as I’m preparing to hold down the fort with 4 little ones while my husband goes away again for work…I know God is already there, prepared and ready for me in all the highs and lows of the upcoming week. “Oh how He loves us” keeps rolling around in my head…
Love,
Rory

Dawn - May 13, 2011 - 10:19 pm

I don’t think you are crazy….but that may be because I totally get it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that probably means I am crazy too ๐Ÿ™‚ he he he…there are much worse things to be! ๐Ÿ™‚

Vanessa - May 14, 2011 - 9:59 pm

Love it!!! Thanks for the reminder that God is in the details!

Kerry Gautraud - May 15, 2011 - 11:07 am

We chose crazy too! Nothing better than storing our treasures in heaven!! Not everyone understands the joy and peace that comes with “crazy” but God does and I believe He smiles upon it. Thankful that you share so openly about listening & obeying His voice in the big & little things…to Him be the glory!!!

Sandi - May 15, 2011 - 6:36 pm

Wow-another example of God speaking to my heart through you. I prayed for hours last night about this very subject. God places people on my heart and I feel their pain, then I am called to help them financially, encourage them and pray for them day and night. Often it is strangers and there is no way other than God that I could know the details of why they are hurting or exactly how to help. I was asked to send my testimony to the church as part of the “membership requirements” and have really, really been torn as to what exactly to reveal. If I am truthful my story is full of miracles but it sounds crazy, unbelievable Unreal!

Shelly - May 17, 2011 - 11:15 pm

I chose crazy too. And that’s how we roll. Love you dearly, sweet friend.

Bare-foot and “Paper-Pregnant” in the kitchen…

Besides the fact I’m wearing a Christmas apron (I’m getting extra wear out of it Mama Judy;), I always think to myself when I’m barefoot and cooking, “Now, if only I were pregnant;).” I totally thought that today…and realized I kinda am:). SO…Rich came home and I said, “Look honey! I’m barefoot and expecting–and in […]

Love it =) {Love your KITCHEN too!!!}

Kim - May 12, 2011 - 3:59 am

Amen. Our family gathered around the dinner table is my favorite part of everyday!

jenn - May 12, 2011 - 9:44 am

At least Frank actually prays. Sam yodles at EVERY meal. So strange…but I guess I should be thankful he is contributing ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you continue to wear the apron a few more months you can celebrate Christmas in July. You look good barefoot and pregnant!

Debra - May 12, 2011 - 8:38 pm

Oh how funny and look at Laney on her tippy toes!

He loves to swing…

Some of the things I never want to forget… He loves to swing…but oh MY–he really just ‘hangs’…(oh my–is that baby belly hanging out from under his shirt???) And after he hangs over…he chills… And that is my low muscle tone love. BUT you just wait…he’ll be hard for them to knock over on the […]

My little guy is on the Reds this year too! We are having so much fun watching him play. He loves the game!

Shannon - May 19, 2011 - 9:11 am

Hey there Andrea. I often think of you when thinking about ‘low muscle tone issues’ around here. Ok- ITY not you- but you get my point. Anyway one thing that helps that core strength- as you probably know is belly time and crawling stuff. A way to help keep them low and crawling- TUNNELS! Anytime I can get Teg in a tunnel play thing we do it. If it’s tall enough he’ll naturally attempt to stand and bend over- where others will naturally stay low and stay on all fours- but it works for a while anyway. Plus its’ great fun! Anyway- was thinking of you

The Lord is my refuge…

Walk through this psalm with me…italics are mine–everything else is from HIM!!!! Psalm 91 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Love this. Picturing myself in HIS shadow?! Think about that for a second. How CLOSE would you have to be to actually BE […]

Thank you, Andrea, for sharing when the Lord speaks to you and allowing Him to also speak to us through these scriptures! It is so beautiful and encouraging. Oh how we all need to just take shelter under His wings and in His shadow sometimes! As mothers we are always taking care of everyone else…it is wonderful to remember that there is someone who is always willing and ready to take care of us.

I love your ultrasound, by the way! Can’t wait to see that sweet face =)

Beth - May 9, 2011 - 11:04 am

Hey Andrea! I am just catching up on posts – SOOOO excited y’all are going to adopt a little girl from China!! Maybe we’ll be going to China around the same time, who knows?! Super excited to follow your newest journey orchestrated by the Lord Himself!

Our orphans ministry team is slowly evolving. We are getting some great ideas together. Thanks again for all of your help/advice, and taking time out of your mommy schedule to talk to me personally.

Praying for your sweet family!
And hope you don’t mind if I use the precious ultrasound pic on my blog at some point. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh my, this post couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I have been reading/studying Psalm 91 for about a week now. I just love how every time I read this Psalm, my personal relationship w/God grows stronger. I have been also using http://www.psalm91.org as a study guide this week. It’s great! Thank you for being such an inspiration and showing us your faith through actions.
Blessings
Rachel
