What about me?

James 1:27 says “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Sitting on the dirty, dry clay ground—my heart was full. Children fighting over my lap. Pouring into these precious children that […]

Loved this post! What a totally different perspective to look at the widows in this way. How helpless they must feel. I have been so focused on orphans, I forgot, or really did not know about the widows. Thanks for enlightening me!:) It totally hit me for the first time. Your post made me completely sympathize with them. I want to buy a t-shirt. I will look on your site to find out how to do it! Hopefully we can catch up soon! 🙂

Oddly enough, just this morning, my husband and I found ourselves sitting in some random parking lot talking about this very issue. This has been so heavy on our hearts lately. AND that was our decision this morning…we have no business adopting (I don’t mean that to sound harsh; it only expresses this strange feeling I’ve had in my gut since we started our adoption and I was told that we might be referred a baby who still has a parent) unless we’re also fighting to keep families together in the first place. We’re totally in…

Sara - February 28, 2010 - 11:13 pm

This very issue has been weighing heavily on my heart lately. I wrote a post about it, but wasn’t brave enough to publish it. Yours doesn’t sound harsh like mine does. 🙂 I would like to be a part of something like this….

Natali - February 28, 2010 - 11:30 pm

Adopting for Life…Wiphan exhibit sneak peak!

Well…WE MADE IT! Funny story—we left Atlanta at 3pm…mini-van full of kids, sweet babysitter Caitlin, Addie and me (2 of the Wiphan wives)! Hubbys left after work at 5pm. Guess what? We arrived at the same time in Lousiville. Don’t ask;). Let’s just say Addie, Caitlin and I are all chatty Cathy’s…and we were in […]

Adopting for Life Conference…

And we’reeeeeeeee off! We’ll spend the next several days representing Wiphan at the Adopting for Life Conference in Kentucky. You know…if you have a heart for adoption, you’ve adopted, you’re considering adoption, you’d like to get plugged into an orphan ministry or you’d like to learn how to start an orphan ministry in your church…it’s […]

Your’e kiling me , I sooo want to go! My husband is going to be out of town and I keep thinking maybe I’ll throw the kids in the car and drop them off in Franklin with the in-laws! OK, maybe not, way too much going on around here. But I am jealous! I think I would want to attend the one of the ones dealing with transracial adoption. At the T4A conference in Franklin this Fall we didn’t think that we were even considering Africa- so we didn’t attend any of those!!
Be safe and enjoy it for us! (:

Shannon - February 25, 2010 - 1:16 am

So wish I could go and have coffee with you! I’m not sure how I would choose a breakout session though! IF I had to choose I would like more information on getting our church involved in adoption ministry. Have a great weekend!

Kim - February 25, 2010 - 8:57 am

Cannot wait to hear all that you learn!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

Kim - February 25, 2010 - 10:41 am

Only 1? I can only pick 1? Wow…they all look so good. I would have to choose “Here’s the church…here’s the people…” Do you suppose any of this info will be available for download/purchase following the conference?

admin - February 25, 2010 - 10:56 am

I’m not sure if it will be available for purchase or download–but the basic conference book was available for download from the T4A conference. SOOOO many good ones to choose from!!! I *SO* want a conference to be held CLOSER to me next time! I’m going to attend what I can and I’ll post on the ones I can visit next week! Thanks for letting me know which you guys would love to hear about!!! You guys know I love sharing about anything orphan/adoption related!!!!

admin - February 25, 2010 - 10:57 am

Meant to add Kim…I’ll definitely ASK your question and let you know what I find out!

Renea - February 25, 2010 - 1:23 pm

WOW!!! I so wanted to go!!! I live way to far to be spontaneous though. So I’m thinking ANY of the sessions on getting an adoption ministry in your church, the fundraising ones for families, and the one at the bottom where MEN leading… oh what a glorious day when more men are bringing their wives to adoption rather than the reverse. Anxious to see what you get to do and all the pics!!! Can’t wait for you to share. Have a blessed time and drive carefully!

Natali - February 25, 2010 - 10:54 pm

Definitely the one about ethnic adoption preparing us for Heaven. Sounds like a great time!

Megan - February 27, 2010 - 2:27 am

Awwww…wish I could be there!!! But that would be a long flight and a lot of extra money that needs to be going towards our adoption right now. I really would love to have coffee with you too! =)
As far as which I’m interested in…
A Call to Holiness, Here is the Church and Here are the People: Where Does Adoptin Fit In?, Funding Your Adoption, Launching Adoptin Ministry in Your Church…can you do all of them??? =)

Collecting Coins, Yummy Recipe & One Year Bible Reading

COLLECTING COINS… This week, Parker’s school Fellowship Christian, has been collecting coins to raise money for Wiphan Care Ministries! The kids have gotten REALLY excited about collecting coins this year—if they fill up their classroom jar they get an ICE CREAM PARTY (YUM!). They only have 8 kiddos in the preK classes where the other […]

Love your boy’s heart. Precious!

Kim - February 24, 2010 - 5:20 pm

Oh our precious children! My oldest (14 yr) came up to me and handed me 100.00 and said it was for the Adoption fund. My reaction was the same as yours…”Are you sure?!” He was insistant and I was humbled. He had been collecting his birthday and Christmas money from family. Love these little world changers!

Shannon - February 25, 2010 - 1:13 am

Oh to have their faith! My 8 year old is such a giver and is always reminding me that those little extra things I like to throw in the cart at Target are not needs but wants and the money would be better used to help others. I’m trying to keep up with the reading…not too far behind!
