A Clean Craft;) – Peppermint Soap by Parker and Laney {& Numbers 30, 31}

Want a quick and SUPER EASY craft to do with your precious ones?! I tossed just 3 things in my cart at a recent run to…yes–you guessed it–Hobby Lobby for this craft! You know I can’t stay away;). We did this AFTER dinner and before our Lent Tree Devotional—and the KIDS actually did this!!! (Yes, we know some times moms end up with their hands on most of the crafts…but not with this one!) Here’s what our final creations looked like…IMG_1788
YEP…P and L made these ALL by themselves! My college roomie from my Auburn days was even here to watch and vouch for me on that one;). FUN, huh!? And they were SO proud of their finished projects. I think we ended up with about 12 bars of soap to share with family and friends:).

And I love the practical application! What can wash me white as snow??? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. The cross. It was funny because I was telling Parker that the cross washes away your sin just like these crosses are as white as snow. Parker looked at me and said, “Yes, but the soap gets you clean on the outside mommy and God is the one who cleans your heart.” You are right Parker. So right:). Love that kid.

To do this at home—first you’ll need a Hobby Lobby;). THEN…you’ll need to pick up these while you are there…

1.IMG_1757

2.IMG_1758

3.IMG_1766(I personally LOVE peppermint–but you can get the aroma of your choice;).

You will need to melt the soap–you can do this in a double boiler (like I did the wax for the egg candles) ORRRRR…you can be quick and put half of the bag in a microwaveable bowl. You will want to do just half because this sets quickly and about half will fill the first mold. I tested it in my microwave—and it worked beautifully heating for 4 minutes.
IMG_1767

You’ll want to let it cool just a bit before pouring into mold. While its cooling a bit, add the scent of your choice. The bottle says to just add a few drops–but I *REALL* like peppermint so I let Laney add half the bottle;). I’m happy I did, too, because after it sets I really think it’s the perfect scent strength.

We then used a plastic tablespoon measuring cup to carefully pour into mold. This was so easy for the kids—and they had fun taking turns on each mold

IMG_1781

We had some extra soap left in one batch–so we took wax paper and used fun cookie cutters to fill—now we have all kinds of soap shapes that will be fun to use or gift away…IMG_1794

And another final product…IMG_1790

Really…the options are limitless with this…and ONE THING IS FOR SURE…this may be the ONLY craft I give ya that you actually don’t get dirty making;)

{One Year Bible Study: Numbers 30 and 31}

Chapter 30…love these truths that bleed through about the importance of vows. What has happened in our day to “my word is my bond”? In the early 1900’s, the London Stock Exchange made bargains by their word rather than documents, signatures, notary stamps and prenups. Our word is void in today’s culture. Yet, Jesus said it best in Matthew 5: …let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. If I say I’m going to do it, I need to do it. To make a promise to ANYONE is to obligate yourself to the Lord. God keeps His promises—and if we are to be in His image…then we should to.

Help us Lord to keep our promises—to be men and women who keep our word. Help us to be honor you and be witnesses as we keep our word no matter what.

Let us not give up on the reading of His word!!! So many exciting things ahead!! And so excited to do scripture reading with you!!!

XOXO,

Andrea

That’s my kind of craft. Wonder if there is a Hobby Lobby in Hong Kong?

Renea - March 10, 2010 - 9:12 am

I eyeballed the soap crafts last time I was there, but never bought it thinking it too much of a pain. But after seeing your easy ‘how-to’ I think I’ll pick me up some Easter crafts! 😉 My son would love doing this too. I make a trip to the big city tomorrow so I’ll have to make a point to hit the Hobby! Since it’s a 4-hour round trip we don’t get out often! LOL And I’m lovin’ my new boy! His face is just beautiful. I’ve told lots of friends and family that our family is growing!

Shannon - March 10, 2010 - 12:11 pm

yay for 5 more kids sponsered!! I did a marathon reading yesterday and caught up….feels good and I’m so thankful for this reading. My womens’ bible study is doing Matthew and it’s so nice to be getting fresh perspective on the old testament to help with the historical/cultural stuff while reading the new. Congratulations on the new numbers too!

Dawn - March 10, 2010 - 2:52 pm

We love making soap- great gift, and pretty easy too. There are soo many molds scents 7 colors 🙂 LOVE your passion that you share through your blog! We love Hobby Lobby too!

Wiphan Contest, Our March Numbers…& Our Day:)

If you missed yesterday’s post, check it out and join us in helping refer readers to our Wiphan site! SO FAR…the top 3 winners in the running for the MOST visitors for our new fun TEE are…

1. www.weloveourlucy.blogspot.com
2. http://shannonholden.com/blog/ (who just wrote a MUST read on her blog about her experience sponsoring Fostina!)
3. FACEBOOK! (ok…so not sure who is rackin’ up the Facebook hits…BUT THANK YOU!)

The contest goes to Friday and we’re going to do the most hits from the week—so be a voice for the voiceless ON YOUR BLOG and take a minute to share Wiphan with your world! YOU ALL ROCK BY THE WAY!!! So thankful:)

And we have our OFFICIAL March numbers!!! YAY! Can you believe I shared Wiphan first?! Well, OF COURSE, I did! Those kids are the HERE and NOW…and they need us NOW!!! Did I tell ya I’ve officially decided to head out on a jet plane this May?! Oh yeah—our adoption is movin’ slow these days…and I’ve got ants in my pants to give hugs to our kids!!! SO…I figured going now is best as I’ll be working on attaching and bonding to our Babe come Fall. Yes, I can’t think summer…this mommy has to protect her heart and say Fall:). SOOOOO…enough ALREADY! Gimme the numbers you say?!

Our boy number is…
Dueteronomy 16:11 “And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your son and your daughter…and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your midst, in the place whre the Lord your God chooses to establish His name.”

ishih16

Our girl number is…
Dueteronomy 26:13 “You shall say before the LORD your God, ‘I have removed the sacred portion from my house, and also have given it to the Levite and the alien, the orphan and the widow.”

ishi22

Have trouble seeing those numbers??? Well…if you do–you just might be colorblind! I’m just sayin’. So…our boy number is 16 and girl is 26. Several referrals have gone out which aren’t included in these numbers–so we are already a bit lower. If I had to guess I’d guess we could/would/just might get our referral in August. Just a guess! My prayer now is that we will miss the court closure in August and September. Regardless…THY WILL BE DONE! And in the MEAN time…I’m jumpin in Wiphan and pouring my heart into the widows and orphans who need us to do that RIGHT NOW. I love living in the now:)

{One Year Bible Study – Monday: Numbers 27, 28, 29}

Still reading? Still with me?! Today’s reading was historical and cultural–but don’t give up!!! He is shining in every piece we read. And what a blessing to have others to be accountable with!

I know as the weather warms up…well as anything changes…it can be very easy to get side-tracked. Let us not give up on the reading of His word!!! Did you know that less than 10% of professed Christians have ever read the entire Bible?! Is it important to know and understand His Word if you are a professing believer? What happens any time in life when you just hear part or tidbits of a story? I don’t know about you–but if I only know tidbits of a story, I’m not ENGAGED. Just tonight on the phone I spend hours getting to know one of my dearest friends better. Her story–her and her husband’s courtship…and I feel so much closer to her knowing more of her story. Did you know the Lord loved YOU so much that He didn’t leave ya out there to wonder or wander. From front to back–His Word is simply amazing revelation of WHO He is. Do you know Him?

Before I left for China after graduating for college–I memorized Dr.Shadrach M. Lockridge’s speach on WHO HE IS. THIS is who you will find HE is when you READ His Word…EVERY SINGLE DAY. Ohhh…He is EVERYTHING. He is ENOUGH! Watch this…and know Him just a bit more today! He is real! He is alive! AND…HE IS MY KING! And this momma…will follow this King ANY WHERE! AMEN! And what a sweet memory it was when I couldn’t think of how else to share Him with my Chinese friends than to have these words also stored in my mind…

This is fabulous ! Shockley was apart of the MLK 25 commemorative anniversary this past year. I look forward to sharing this with my family. No blog…put Wiphan on my facebook…hopefully, it will expose more people. Still not sure how all this works…but.My King does ! and He will put the right hearts on this…I am hoping our family considers sponsoring a child as their Easter gift to Christ. Is there any specific name or connection that is made through this?

Kim - March 9, 2010 - 8:49 am

AMEN SISTER … THAT’S MY KING!
I love it. And feel very challenged by your memorization of Dr. Lockridge’s speech! And I didn’t remember you spent time in China after graduation. We have got to meet and compare stories!
So excited about your new numbers. Love, love, love how you found such perfect verses to mark this special day.
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

Yay! I like the numbers, seems there has been some movement! I still need to post about wiphan, but I will!

Charisa - March 9, 2010 - 12:45 pm

Hey! I’ve always loved That’s My King! They did it at a Beth Moore conference while everyone was just waiting…it was so cool that about halfway through the whole entire colliseum was engaged and shouting and praising along with it! It was awesome! Hope you guys are doing well! I for one am so thankful for the son!

Charisa - March 9, 2010 - 12:45 pm

CONTEST *for* Orphans & Widows! {Widows + Orphans = My Heart}

I’ve done pretty good about resting on Sundays—until today. BUT it was Mission Martketplace at church and the widows and orphans of Zambia needed to be represented:)!!! SO…Addie and I represented again this weekend…
addieandandrea
That was taken on an iPhone…so maybe you can still see it. Can you see what’s behind us??? CHILD SPONSORSHIPS!!! One of the things we need MOST and one of the hardest things for us to get–is to find families to commit to sponsoring our kids. The monthly commitment is just $39 a month. We got TWO children sponsored tonight (thank you Lord!) but we still have about 20 or so who need sponsors!!!

Wiphan was started just 3 years ago…and we’ve just had our 501 non-profit status for TWO years. It went from one friend of ours—to our family—to 3 more families…and we had a board! For awhile—it was just us + 450 orphans + 150 widows. We trusted the Lord to provide the thousands of dollars of month we would need to run–and He has always provided. Last year we started our sponsorship program to invite OTHER FAMILIES to join us! I would LOVE to see all TWENTY of our children who still don’t have sponsors sponsored by Friday!

OK—so how can you help?! We need voices! We need others who have hearts for orphans to speak with us! And if you have a blog—well, you have a voice and you probably have lots of readers!!! The MORE people we refer to the Wiphan site…the MORE people will find out about Wiphan and our sponsorship program!

Will you consider joining us and writing about Wiphan on your blog?! OK…so HERE’S THE CONTEST! Our Wiphan ladies will be checking the stats behind the scenes to see which blog is referring the MOST people! (Right now…it’s mine and weloveourlucy.blogspot simply because we posted pics of the t-shirts in a recent post!)…but we want YOU to be the winner! Because we want to see EVERY child sponsored!!! The blog that sends the most clicks our way (we’re able to view this in our stats WHERE they came from!) will win our NEW t-shirt…hot off the press…never before seen and super cool on a BURN OUT TEE! Here’s a SNEAK PEAK of the design…wiphan TEE
Imagine that on a CUTE white burn-out t-shirt! BUT EVEN BETTER…imagine if we got ALL our children sponsored so they could go to school, have a meal a day and be offered hope SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU BLOGGED ABOUT THEM! And look VERY CLOSE into Africa…what more do you see in the art??? Powerful huh?!

You can visit http://www.wiphan.org and you can copy and paste any of our information ON YOUR BLOG if you’re short on words! You can post the t-shirts on there one day…you could share one of our videos another! I’ll be posting a button for Wiphan tomorrow that you can add to your blog also to help drive traffic to our blog from yours too! And of course feel free to use any material we have on our website!

As you know–Zambia isn’t really open to adoptions…so for these kids–the only hope is for them to be cared for in country. We have TWO schools and 450 kids—with MANY MORE who would LOVE to be in our program. BUT before we can grow–we need to find sponsors for the children on our list. Many of our children waiting for sponsors are “older children”. Maybe you don’t qualify for adopting an older child–but you could sponsor one! Maybe your budget really is too tight–but you could blog about them and be their voice!

Each night beginning Monday—I’ll annouce the 5 blogs in order of the most referrals! Maybe some of you are like me and in the midst of a wait—wouldn’t this be a GREAT way to serve orphans while you wait!!! Maybe you just have a heart for the “least of these”—considering sharing Wiphan on your site and make the difference in the lives of orphans in Ndola, Zambia with a simple act of blog writing!

Tom Davis said in The Fields of the Fatherless “One person has the ability to completely revolutionize the life of an abandoned child, a foreigner, a single mom, or an elderly widow. Your creative energy could be the very thing that helps him or her keep going and even experience God’s love for the first time.”

Join us. We’d love to have you. And so would they. It could revolutionize their lives!

**The pictures above I took—and if you would like to use them on your blog to encourage people to visit www.wiphan.org please feel the freedom to do so. As long as it’s for Wiphan–we are ok sharing the images of our beautiful children. If you have trouble coping—you can click on the RSS feed on your screen and they should be able to be copy and pasted there. Thank you!!!!

I know I don’t have a big following but I still posted…even if just one person feels moved….yay! I’m praying sponsorship for these babes by the end of the week~He can make it happen!

Elle J - March 8, 2010 - 2:11 am

Contest or no contest ~ a great post to nudge us to talk about this very real happening in our world. My post will be up soon. Praying for the calling of many.

Renea - March 8, 2010 - 7:43 am

Awesome stuff girlfriend!!! I don’t care if I win or not (even though that is an awesome shirt!), the children and widows are the important goal here! I’m going to post on my personal blog and our adoption advocacy blog (promoting sponsorship not adoption of course) 😉 and our facebook pages! 🙂 Go WIPHAN!! you rock girl! I can tell from personal experience and the girl we sponsor in Haiti, it’s magical to see what having a sponsor does for a child in need. It’s almost like being adopted for them. Their lives change from the possibilities given to them and it’s amazing to see!!!

Shannon - March 8, 2010 - 9:53 am

I’m sharing on my blog! Like Ellie said, contest or no contest … I’m glad to do what I can to spread the word. Wiphan and our sponsor child have been heavy on my heart this weekend. I need to talk to you about some stuff soon, my friend!! 🙂

Megan - March 8, 2010 - 12:52 pm

I’m off to our next homestudy interview, so I don’t have time right now…but I will when I get home. I agree…contest or no contest this is important! I’ll be back!

julie@Flitterbugs - March 8, 2010 - 3:40 pm

I’ve shared about you on facebook…gets the word out to more! I love that you care for the orphan…not “just” the precious children. Waiting on my shirt to arrive…I think it is the BEST advertising!

Toby & Dress-Up Drawings {& Bible Study}

On Friday–we found out some VERY exciting news. NOPE–no new numbers yet. But still–very exciting in our home. TOBY (the stuffed animal dog in Parker’s preK class) got to come HOME with us for the weekend! You have NO idea what an honor this is to the kids…quite the big deal at his school! Well, we got into a bit of mischief Friday afternoon—and I can’t WAIT to tell you where he (Toby…of course!) is RIGHT now. {If you are with our agency and you KNOW who Toby might have snuck out on an adventure with…hush, hush!} BUT—it was a spur of the moment decision by Toby and Parker…and Toby is MIA…actually on a V.I.M (Very Important Mission).tobyHe’s putting Jason Borne to shame on this one. I’ll be UNVEILING Toby’s where abouts on Friday—yep, in 6 days! So…come back on Friday to see where in the WORLD Toby has been. And…no guessing or cheating! So serious;). Let’s just say I did have to email the teacher an email to warn her already—which upon she FLIPPED and then responded “AWESOME!” So fun…can’t wait to share Toby’s adventures with you next week!

And a quick and fun activity… Kelly and her kiddos came over today for a play date—and when the kids starting getting wild and it was time to CALM them down…I pulled out some fabric scraps and let them do “dress-up drawings” that we saw on a dad’s really creative, fun blog. Here are a few of ours…I was whipping mine out fast with scissors so they are no where as cute as his—BUT it did AMAZINGLY make all of the KIDS completely STILL and SILENT for AWHILE. (That’s a good combo isn’t it KIDS/STILL/SILENT/AWHILE). Nice.IMG_1737

IMG_1732(Ok…you can tell which face I drew on Laney’s…she just wasn’t into faces today. I let them all use stick glue to put these on themselves. For older kids you could make belts, hats, etc. The boys even had a blast with this…don’t tell our hubbies;)
Here are Parker’s…IMG_1733

We will DEFINITELY be doing this little activity again! I’d recommend having all the things cut out and then just having them ready for them to play with. They really had so much fun doing this one!!!

{One Year Bible Study – Friday’s Reading: Numbers 19,20,21 and Saturday 22,23,24]}

Numbers 19 – Water is what purifies the Israelites from touching a dead body—and I love the picture and foreshadowing of baptism here. This law of cleansing had a lot to do with external cleanness, but for us there is also a lesson of having clean hearts. “Be holy as I am holy.” If you have been reading my blog for awhile, then you’ve heard me say “what goes down in the well comes up in the bucket“. I remember this old book on tape my mom used to checkout for me at the library when I was a child and there was a song called “GIGO”…Garbage in, garbage out…that’s what you get with GIGO. Okay, I’m sure I’m the only person in America that knows that song—but it stuck with me! (And that goes to show you what goes into our minds remains with us!)

I’m protective of what goes into my children’s minds—but I am ALSO protective of what goes into MINE. I chose not to watch junk on tv, let my kids watch cartoons, and I’m careful about the literature I read and even blogs I follow—it’s not being legalistic…it’s about keeping a clean mind and a clean heart. {Ok…confession—after almost 10 years of watching barely ANY tv…I watched this past season of the Bachelor and I am reminded why I *don’t* watch reality tv. GIGO:). Felt myself gettin’ catty there at the end;). BUT seriously—as mommies, we need to protect our minds AS MUCH AS we protect the minds of our children!

Numbers 20 – The consequence of disobedience – And this is where it all took a turn in chapter 20. The Israelites complained AGAIN. This time, they are thirsty. Moses didn’t get angry this time; he just ran to the Lord and begged for help. And what attribute of God do we see again? HIS FAITHFULNESS. Jehovah Jireh wanted to provide. BUT He also wanted to be glorified. (As He always does!)
moses_water_rock_strike
God tells Moses to go back to the people and speak to the rock and water will gush out for the people. Moses goes back–but instead of speaking to the rock, He hits it with his staff and water pours out. Even in Moses’s disobedience, the Lord provided for the people. BUT because of Moses’s disobedience, the Lord took away his right to see the Promised Land.

Why did Moses hit the rock instead of speak to it as the Lord instructed? Moses wanted some of the credit from the people. Ever want some of the credit? Does God ever lay something on your heart and you say—hmmm…that’s bold Lord…how ’bout instead… There were consequences of Moses not following the Lord completely and giving Him the glory. Oh Lord, help us to die to ourselves! Help us to follow you no matter what! Let us trust in You alone!

How sad that the consequence for Moses (and Aaron) would be never seeing the Promised Land. There are always consequences to disobedience. BUT obedience brings God’s BEST for our life! ALWAYS.

YET—in Moses’s disobedience, the rock spewed forth water. In Moses’s sin–the rock spewed forth water. And in my sin—and in your sin…the ROCK was pierced in the side on the cross…and spewed forth water.
jesus-on-the-cross2
I love in Numbers 24 that it says “By now Balaam realized that the Lord was determined to bless Israel…” Do you know if you are HIS that the Lord wants to BLESS you?! He really does. He is determined. How amazing is it that if you are a believer–that you serve a God that not only LOVES you but a God who is determined to bless you. What great love!

OK…I’m officially caught up with our reading—so I won’t pack 2 days into 1 again if I can help it! Ok…so that may happen again—but let’s keep reading and not give up on digging in and being blessed by His Word!!!

XOXO!

Andrea

How cool of a project! That would be great for a little girls slumber/birthday party. Dress up stick people! 🙂 And I can’t wait to see and hear about Toby’s adventure! I know what he’s up to!!!!!!!!! 🙂 LOL

Natali - March 7, 2010 - 10:34 pm

awesome post! LOVED IT!

[…] how Toby the stuffed dog (my 5 year old’s classroom pet) got to come home with us last weekend??? Well…I just can’t stand it as I JUST got word that Toby is OFFICIALLY on his way […]

[…] Toby? If not—I first shared about him here. And we unveiled where that little stinker stuck off to here. Yep, give our family a class pet to […]

Africa, India & the budget

FIRST…Africa:). No new numbers…our agency was quite busy today. SO…our new numbers will come on Monday. Crazy thing–I’m so cool with that. We’re not in single digits…knowing today or Monday doesn’t change anything. HEY…has someone out there been praying for me?! Well, God sure is good because I’m so at peace with where we are—and as the saying goes “I don’t know what my future holds, but I know who holds my future” is allowing me to REST. And if you’ve said a prayer for peace for my heart…THANK YOU.

ALSO concerning Africa—I have been SOOO encouraged by the emails and responses I have gotten about Wiphan (Widows + Orphans = Wiphan), our schools/organization in Zambia. Important note–our server for our Wiphan site is down this weekend…IF you want a t-shirt OR if you have a question—please email Addie by filling out the contact form on my blog and I’ll forward it RIGHT to her and she’ll be quick to help you. EVEN if you just want your email added to our Wiphan newsletter–email her and she’ll add you! We are SO thankful for those the Lord is bringing to us to join us in serving orphans and widows in Africa—and with our server down we don’t want to lose one precious contact or interested person! We look SO FORWARD to serving you…and hope that together the Lord can use us to grow Wiphan into other places throughout Africa!

SECOND…INDIA…
Funny side note—today my friend Kelly called me to tell me about a funny conversation she and her hubby were having about me. He wanted to know where the Lord first stirrd my heart for the orphan. And she pegged it right and called me to ask if she had it. AND YES SHE DID. It was 13 years and 2 months ago (when I was 20 years old) that I first came face to face with the orphan. I was in Madras, India over Christmas. I was celebrating my 21st birthday across the world among precious orphans—no, not typical of how most spend their 21st birthdays–but for me it was indeed a milestone for the rest of my life.

I will never forget stepping OVER children sleeping on the street. Or spending time at the day school. And then as a 21 year old having to take those memories back to college. I remember calling my mom from Madras and crying—telling her how it wasn’t fair. Justice wasn’t being served—and I was officially ruined for this world. The Lord was changing my heart, my expectations and desires—and I began to pray then for the Lord to break my heart for what breaks His. So for me…it all started in India…so long ago—and India will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. On that note…

Will you join me in praying for the Needham family who is waiting and trying to bring home their little Abby from India? They started their adoption process in August 2008—and I am praying for them to have her home by August 2010! Her momma just shared the most PRECIOUS video of her with me…and she is THIS close to walking! She is precious—and guess what?! YOU CAN HELP BRING HER HOME!!! TWO WAYS…

1. PRAY. Will you join me in praying Abby home by August 2010? Anything is possible! The court process for India is a long, complicated process—but our prayers can help bring this precious angel home!!!

2. Support. Will you consider making a difference with what you WEAR by buying a t-shirt to help toward their adoption…
simply love india jan 10
AND…if you look CLOSE enough…you can see sweet Abby’s name in the writing:). How fun is that?! SO…when you wear this (YOU CAN BUY YOURS HERE)…it will remind you not only of Abby, but of hundreds and thousands like her who need us to hold hands together, serve one another, pray for one another…and be a voice for the voiceless…getting these children home!!!

& 3rd – The BUDGET!

Our adoption brought many MUCH needed things into our life–and one was a stricter budget. So…my job now that I’m no longer working as a photographer…is to help keep our budget (groceries, etc) on track. I do NOT pay the bills because I am SO unorganized and we tried it one month and I drove Richard crazy. SO…I just keep us on track. OK this part of the post is just to make you laugh. Andrea went over budget this week in 2 areas. One grocery. I went to organic grocery and on top of much needed groceries…I had a decaf with me and had WAY TOO MUCH FUN at the grocery store reading about organic bath salt and lotion…happens when you don’t get out much and a night OUT is actually a decaf at the grocery;). {And of course the other place I went over budget? Can you guess—yes, you got it—Hobby Lobby. Just got a FEW things for next week…but still I’m making up for it…just read on!}

WELL…to remain on budget–I decided to AX my haircut appointment…ANNNNNDDDDD…cut it myself! So picture this—my hubby came home for lunch–walks into the bathroom where I’m WACKING off my hair.

He says, “Ang, are you okay?”

Me: “Yes hon, I’m just staying on budget.”

OK…so he looked at me like I was crazy. BUT I impressed him with the new du. I even made him take a picture;). I actually prayed that the Lord would help this turn out ok AS IF HE CARES ABOUT MY HAIR;)…and I have to say I might have skills;-).

Bible study reading to come…after my music and decaf come on…until then—have a great weekend and email Addie through my contact page (I’ll forward to her!) if you need anything Wiphan oriented or have any questions!!! And of course if you want to buy a really cute Wiphan t-shirt, sign up for our e-letter OR just want to be on the list to be involved with either our orphan or widow program!

Oh yes. The budget. I think we are implimenting a newer, stricter one each month b/c I’m so bad at it. Okay not THAT bad. BUt I hate it that’s for sure. You know I’m doing good when I’m complaining about having nothing to wear. It’s not really that I have nothing to wear, its just that I don’t like my options anymore! =) But hearing about you cutting your own hair made me want to cry (although hubby walking in to the house to Me: scissors in hand, surrounded by hair is a common occurance)! I’m a hairstylist (retired? SAHM now) and I hate to hear about ameteurs (no offense, haha) cutting their own hair. But I have to admit it doesn’t look bad by any means. 😉 Shhh…don’t tell anyone though! I don’t want the word to spread about at-home-stylists! =)

Oh, Andrea…your hair looks great. I have been cutting mine for quite some time and even *sigh* went to the box color. 5dollar dinners (dot) com has been a huge help for us and she cooks very healthy. If you were on my fb you could see my pictures of dinners for a family of 5 in the 3.00 – 5.00 range for the entire meal. I must say your ham dinner looked amazing but I knew I could not get it to come in under 5.00. So that will be a special occasion meal for sure!

Thank you, Andrea, for stopping by our blog and leaving your words of encouragement. This blogging thing is so new to me, but what fun! I have loved reading about your journey for a few months now, and it is so great to read others stories who are a bit further down on the adoption path. On another note- We made many sets of your valentine cookies and gave them to our kiddo’s “Prayer Parents” this year for their valentine’s and they loved them! Thanks for sharing great ideas. I was also wondering how did you make your Lent tree? I’m a visual learner and I was hoping to see how you made your tree to hang all the ornaments. Just had to ask! It will be fun to watch your journey continue to unfold.
God’s grace to you,
Amy

Wow! I think you did a great job with your hair. That would’ve ended in a disaster if I had tried that. Me, scissors, and hair are not a good combination. But, you look great! And the adoption thing definitely holds you accountable to living on a stricter budget. Our 10 year anniversary is coming up and for years we had big dreams of going to Hawaii or something, but now that we’re adopting again, I think we might be heading to Chicago or something instead. Thankful that the Lord uses adoption to refine my heart in so many areas….including stewardship. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

I love the whole lent tree thing! What an awesome way to teach kids!

Oh, I think your hair looks great! I cut my hair to save money to a couple of months ago. All the kids were screaming and I just decided to wack my hair off so I could have some organization to my life! I wasn’t so straight, but my mom helped me straighten up when I saw her the next week. I also cute Henry’s hair! Yes, it’s a bowl cut, but that is an Alabama thing. I wish I could highlight my hair myself, but it never turns out right. I am always trying to do things myself. Have a good weekend!!
