More crazy to our crazy:)

Sooo…I’m not what I would say is a dog person. BUT I have 3 boys and a little girl…so I knew at SOME point they would want a pet. I asked my dear Facebook friends for advice…and I got everything from what breeds we should think about to personal emails telling me NOT to do […]

I just LOVE how it looks like she has “hearts” outlining her eyes! Look closely…can you see it? PERFECT for your family with such BIG hearts! ๐Ÿ™‚

Alison - January 3, 2011 - 2:10 pm

Oh my goodness!! Rosie it just adorable!!!! My kids are begging for a dog too! Gonna try to hold them off for a few more years…hopefully! ๐Ÿ™‚

Gini - January 3, 2011 - 2:32 pm

She is beautiful! It sounds like she’ll be a pretty cool addition to your family. ๐Ÿ™‚ (BTW, LOVE the new photos in your header!)

Joy - January 3, 2011 - 2:36 pm

Oh, she’s lovely! And I doubt she will shed any more than a lab, golden, or collie, if that’s any comfort ๐Ÿ™‚ And…having her indoors lots is likely to be good for monitoring interactions and helping her develop all kinds of comfort around kids and people in general…Sure, there’s the occasional inconvenience to having a dog, but I think they far outweigh any of that with what they add to life! Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Dee Dee Aarseth - January 3, 2011 - 2:51 pm

We have a girl mut and she is THE best. I personally think that mixed breeds are WAY better…something about all that pure bred over and over can kinda blow up in your face sometimes. Anyways I think you did perfectly, girl dogs are much more lady like if you know what I mean… ๐Ÿ™‚ a girl is a good choice…you need to balance out that testosterone in your house!

Erin - January 3, 2011 - 2:52 pm

Awe, Andrea!! Rosie is such a cutie!! I LOVED reading this story, b/c I felt like I was reading my life! Only, we don’t have a dog, and we haven’t traveled to Ethiopia YET for our little one…I felt like I was reading my future story. We are telling our oldest “not yet,” and he LOVES dogs. LOVES THEM. I have said, “Definitely not a dog that sheds…”!! HA! We will see if it turns out like yours! ๐Ÿ™‚

Kelly Johnson - January 3, 2011 - 3:23 pm

She is precious!!! Dogs are the best! Ours is part of our family for sure and our little girl’s bestest friend. She is a lab and sheds more than any dog I’ve ever seen in my life…but every hair is worth it. You made a great decision and did it with your heart–the best way. :c)

Jennifer - January 3, 2011 - 3:45 pm

Nice. I use a dremel on my dogs’ nails. ..just a thought. I got it at Lowe’s, and the one absolutely loves, loves, loves it. She runs and gets on her side when I unplug the charger from the wall. If she had her way she would have them dremeled every day, but the nails don’t grow fast enough.

Jenny - January 3, 2011 - 7:12 pm

Love it!!! This is so sweet!

Bonnie Nieuwstraten - January 3, 2011 - 10:53 pm

Oh, I am laughing! Because I also had a very firm NO dog policy (kind of like my firm NO retreat policy!!) but in late October I also fell prey and we now have an adorable little lhasa who makes me crazy! Have fun!

Jennifer - January 4, 2011 - 12:29 am

OK, I am a reader of your blog and several others, but very rarely comment. But, today I have to. We, too adopted our number 4–from China in March of this year and it has been an AMAZING blessing. I have SO enjoyed so much of what you say about adoption and God’s heart for orphans. AND, how funny is this? Just got a new puppy 3 weeks ago! Definitely more crazy to the already crazy! But-great…and I agree, kids, especially boys, need a dog! Enjoy!

Kim - January 4, 2011 - 7:16 am

You are living the dream! Oh my … Rosie is adorable. I am going to have to sign off quickly before the kids catch a glimpse of your new four legged family member. My older boys have been searing Hong Kong dog rescue website for weeks. I’d give them the green light, but Daddy O isn’t there yet. You got me wondering what would happen if I just did it! Not sure he would roll with it! Ha!

Kim - January 4, 2011 - 7:18 am

P.S. Your new header is over the top cute. But it looks like it is missing a new four legged member of the family?!

Sheila - January 4, 2011 - 12:07 pm

LOVE it! Just what your kids needed and over time you will realize you needed too!

marci - January 4, 2011 - 1:51 pm

PRECIOUS addition to family….real love and play ahead and years of sweetness with Rosie onboard !

Debb - January 4, 2011 - 6:42 pm

Awwww……this dog-lover LOVES this story! Rosie captures my heart via pics, so I can imagine what she is doing to yours! Good move, mom! I agree……what a great present for Parker and Laney! and the rest of the fam! I can’t wait for the post that speaks of how much your hubby has fallen in love with her! {grin}

Rachel Campbell - January 5, 2011 - 1:45 pm

I’m so excited for you guys!!!! All little kids deserve a Dog ๐Ÿ˜‰ … this coming from “very MUCH a dog person” ๐Ÿ™‚ Its Good crazy.

christie - January 5, 2011 - 9:51 pm

We have a mixed breed dog. She is getting ready to turn 8. She has been the BEST dog I have ever met ๐Ÿ™‚ It seems that mixed breeds are best. Congrats on the new addition to the fam!

Oh what a beautiful post!!! Ugghhh… cried through reading what your Great Grandmother said!! I’ve lost all of my grandparents and oh how I wish my sweet Grandma Glover were here to see us bring Joleigh home. I’m the only Christian in my immediate family but my Grandma Glover was the most Godly woman… Love and miss her dearly!!

Love the pics of Isaac in the snow:) and desperately wanna see that tent tutorial:)

Jennifer - December 28, 2010 - 11:15 am

Love the videos. Frankie baby has great leadership potential!
๐Ÿ™‚ I put ankle weights in the one ride on toy I bought for my youngest (there is a little area I could put them inside) to hopefully keep it from tipping over easily. I guess we shall see if it works. Great videos. Love Frank’s pjs.

Alison - December 28, 2010 - 4:10 pm

Journey with the Magi (a new family tradition) and a WHITE Christmas!

Last year, I spent some time studying the journey of the Magi, and just like my recent post on Joseph (a must read on his perspective if you missed it…if you only read one blog entry from me this year read that one)–and just like Joseph, their story is miraculous but often overlooked. Also last […]

Those pictures are priceless! Glad you had a good Christmas!

Kim - December 26, 2010 - 9:27 am

We are back from Bali and I am way behind in the land of blog. What a great place to start … with this post. Love the Magi Journey ideas and oh … that ITY!
Merry Christmas sweet friend and thank you for allowing us the gift of following your journey!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

kristin cowden - December 26, 2010 - 10:35 am

i first have to say…blessing after blessing…i have so enjoyed following your blog and journeying with you and your sweet family! And once again i am going to take our family on the “journey of the wisemen with you!” …what a fabulous idea! And i too…LOVE Carol Brazo’s book…”No ordinary home”. I discovered her about a year and 1/2 ago and wow! blessing. So..my question for you is…where did you do your research of the journey of the magi? Blessings to you!

abby - December 26, 2010 - 11:18 am

look at him!!! seriously…a miracle boy.

Jen - December 26, 2010 - 12:56 pm

love the idea of the journey of the wiseman. is there a day by day devotion to go with it?

Dawn - December 26, 2010 - 1:31 pm

We also have traveling wisemen around our home. The kids love it! Love the idea of how we see Jesus every day. What a great idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

I too am in awe of our family how it has grown where we came from this past year.

AND YES!!!! Isaac is the cutest little man ๐Ÿ™‚ !!!!! Go Isaac!!!

admin - December 26, 2010 - 5:12 pm

Kristin and Jen…I just do the research myself and pull from every source I can find. I will be posting each night our devotional for the next 2 weeks–so feel free to just follow us a day behind if you begin your journey tonight (doing something similar to what we did last night…just introducing the journey). I just can’t type much until all my littles are down for the night:).

Becca Harley - December 26, 2010 - 7:21 pm

oh andrea – he is just precious!!! Merry Christmas! Cannot wait to SEE you in a month!!!

Heidi - December 26, 2010 - 10:01 pm

He is just so stinking cute .. and I love him in a hat shows his cute cheeks!

Lara - December 27, 2010 - 2:54 pm

What a neat idea. I struggle so much with doing structured things like that with my kids. My almost four year old has the attention span of a fly and seems to get all squirmy everytime we try to do a devotional. We flunked out of the Ann Voskamp Jesse tree devotional this year because it became frustrating to try and get him to stay focused ๐Ÿ™ Next year I’ll try something simpler.

Sprinkle and Twinkle…& a special gift for Frank!

SOOO…on Tuesday night we scooted over to my sister, April’s house, for a little cousin Christmas break time. We were just minding our own business…getting ready for dinner…when out from no where the door bell rang and in came Sprinkle and Twinkle! Two of Santas sweet elves who just happen to be raising money to […]

missy - December 24, 2010 - 3:14 am

just watched all the videos in between 2am cooking. i LOVE that laney wrapped parker up. i can’t believe he stayed so still!!! my favorite lines…”then he won’t think it’s a choo choo” and “present, open yourself!”. merry, merry christmas to your sweet family.

Jennifer - December 24, 2010 - 8:38 am

Loved the last video of Isaac. Too cute. They were all cute, but that is my favorite. Poor Frankie baby. ๐Ÿ˜‰ As prez of his fan club, I hope he gets a nice choo choo for Christmas. ๐Ÿ™‚

In the plus…Christmas cards…and Honey Nut O’s….

Wow!!! You guys awesome!!! In just a few days we have sold close to 90 shirts putting us in the PLUS–meaning all the shirt expenses are paid for and what we are making now all goes to our fundraising!!! 100% of the proceeds goes to The Created for Care Adoption Retreat the first week in […]

So fun seeing our card as well as so many other adoption friends on your board! I even see sweet little Teamir who goes to our church! His mom and I just met and are traveling together to Atlanta in Feb for the conference! God used that little cutie pie as another confirmation in our lives of our family’s Ethiopian adoption!!! So wonderful to see him on your board with our family! Going to mailbox is one of the very best highlights of my day!! LOVE sweet Christmas cards!!! Your families is up on our kitchen cabinet! Christy - December 21, 2010 - 3:26 pm

Alright, I’ve procrastinated long enough! I’m going to get my shirt now. Thanks for all the reminders since it’s been so busy lately. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m amazed at how you are finding time to do all of this during CHristmas week!

Dawn - December 21, 2010 - 8:20 pm
