Just in case you wondered;)

It’s actually possible to update your blog via your iPhone:). After Monday night’s windstorm in Georgia, Comcast has been out of service for different areas ’round these parts…and we just happen to be one of those it’s out for. Because Comcast provides our Internet, phone and cable, we’ve without all 3 since Monday night! On […]

A few random things from our home to yours… {And a sweet reminder through storms}

We of course rang in the new month with April Fool’s Day on Friday. Oh girl, I cannot tell you how badly I needed to read this this morning. Thank you thank you thank you! Love how God uses people in my life so often like you, who I’ve never even met personally, just through sharing what God puts on their hearts!

Cheryl - April 4, 2011 - 7:51 am

The snow globe illustration was PERFECT for me today. We are in the adoption process, and I just really needed to read this today. Thank you so much.

Audrey @ The Brown Brigade - April 4, 2011 - 8:59 am

What a great visual reminder of God holding us in His hands. We are in the midst of one of those storms and not quite knowing which way is up. Thank you for posting.

Alison - April 4, 2011 - 2:18 pm

What a beautiful picture of God’s plan and purpose! Thanks for sharing! I needed to read that today!

Debb - April 5, 2011 - 11:56 pm

Oh, Andrea, THANK YOU for re-posting this! For following God’s lead to post it again! Looks like many of us needed this perspective today! We, too, are in the middle of the blessing of adoption (from ET!), and it seems as though every time it looks like the storm might clear, another storm moves in, keeping our view quite blurry. I admit that I haven’t been focusing on the beauty of the storm, but when I stop and think about it, beauty abounds………..bless you. And that sweet precious heart of yours!

Dennis - April 6, 2011 - 7:20 am

That is a great illustration and I am so thankful of Christ holding my life in his hands.

Little bit of crazy…

from the Young house. Ok–so people always stop me when I’m out in public with my little ones and say, “You have your hands full”..OR the new favorite is, “Not everyone can have a big family–you must have a lot of patience.” WELL…I have been told a time or twenty that I have a not […]

Ah, the Anne movies. I was SUCH a huge L.M. Montgomery fan as a younger person. Will likley re-read all the books sometime! Quite a bit of filming for those movies took place just a few hours from me, in my province of Ontario ๐Ÿ™‚

Elle J - March 30, 2011 - 12:08 am

My daughter LOVED the books and movie series of Anne of Green Gables ~ I hope your sweetie does too. Have you had a chance to check out The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry … might be for when the kids are older, but YOU might enjoy it now. =)

Christy - March 30, 2011 - 6:08 am

HA at the Tangled review. At first I wasn’t sure because it’s PG but I guess it’s because they are in a bar for one of the scenes. We are picky about what we let our kids watch so this is one of the few princessy type movies we will own. OH, mine love Mary Poppins too, and I know H will love Sound of Music soon too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Alison - March 30, 2011 - 7:56 am

We loved Tangled!!! Caty is getting the DVD for her birthday coming up! Can’t wait! And we had family movie night a few weeks ago and watched Secretariat! I cried!! Loved it! And CG is already loving Anne of Green Gables..Laney will love it too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Deborah L. King - March 30, 2011 - 9:08 am

Thanks for the movie reviews. Took my grandaughter and nieces to see Tangle and it was wonderful. All my girls did uncountable marathons of Anne. They still do.

Cheryl - March 30, 2011 - 11:56 am

I love Plugged In. Saves hubby and me the money of seeing it first so we know if it is appropriate! And the Anne books and movie series with your kiddos is gonna be so fun and a blessing. My three girls are starting to get into them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mama Mimi - March 30, 2011 - 12:56 pm

Awwww….Swiss Family Robinson!!! Forgot how much I LOVED that movie. Gonna break that one out =)

We saw Tangled in the theater and absolutely loved it!

Amber - March 30, 2011 - 1:00 pm

We absolutely l-o-v-e-d Tangled. Scott is a HUGE fan, too! I have NO IDEA why it’s rated PG…it is truly my favorite Disney movie!!! And, Anne…my heart smiles and sings when I think of Anne and Gilbert. So looking forward to sharing those movies with my girl!

Kristin - March 30, 2011 - 10:10 pm

We love Swiss Family Robinson too– the race is our favorite part and I love hearing the belly-laughter from the kids as they watch! We are also big Sound Of Music fans!

Shanna - March 31, 2011 - 3:59 pm

Thanks so much for answering my comment question Andrea! This is a huge help to me!

More things you should know…

Just had to answer some of the comments from yesterday’s post:) I can’t leave inquiring minds hanging. SO…here’s more you obviously needed to know:) 1. missy - March 29, 2011 - 2:34 am

and another question…who is the author of simply organized?

Christy - March 29, 2011 - 6:06 am

I love the Wiphan cookbook! ๐Ÿ™‚ It IS easy and most of the ingredients are things I normally have! I have given it for a couple of gifts too. Probably need to restock! ๐Ÿ˜‰ We love WallE and Toy Story 3 here, and my H loved Tangled. It was really cute and clean (without some of the evil that is conveyed in some of the other princess movies) and comes out today! She has been earning it with good attitudes during her schoolwork time and thanks to my good friend Amazon, ๐Ÿ™‚ it is coming today on its release date… so I will have one happy girl! ๐Ÿ™‚

Tracy Sheehy - March 29, 2011 - 7:50 am

Andrea,

The Kilgoris Project does sell pictures on their website and it has been a good source of income for the schools and farm. So, yes sell your beautiful phots that you have taken in Zambia…I would love to buy them! We love Winn Dixie…great book and great story! We read the book and then watched the movie! So many lessons taught in it!

Andrea Young - March 29, 2011 - 8:12 am

MISSY! I’m such a airhead!!! You’ll never find the book “Simply Organized” because the name of the book is “Organized Simplicity”!!!!!!!!! So sorry…the author probably wouldn’t like me botching her title!!!!!!! Anyway, it’s Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider!

Katie - March 29, 2011 - 9:15 am

I love the Wiphan cookbook, too! One more question:) A while back you mentioned another book that you got your Easter Tree idea from- now I can’t remember the title (??something about Homemaking??), but I remember looking on Amazon for it and it must be out of print. Any ideas on where to find it?

Lori M. - March 29, 2011 - 10:04 am

THANK YOU for posting this! I had those same questions after reading your last post! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also, would you consider photographing the table of contents of the Wiphan cookbook for a post? I would love to see what is inside. Thanks!

Amie Wagner - March 29, 2011 - 10:40 am

Yes – please consider selling prints of that beautiful image from the Wiphan school!

joy - March 29, 2011 - 1:32 pm

One of our favorite family-friendly movies is “Despicable Me”. It has a great message of adoption, God changing hearts (though it’s not attributed to God!) and is just all around funny! Absolutely no scary parts – even the villain is funny!

Gretchen - March 29, 2011 - 9:41 pm

We struggle with movies as well. It’s really hard to find something that’s not scary or too suspenseful and doesn’t have any other negatives with something an hour or longer. We also usually watch movies in parts since they’re so long. Our kids are 6 and almost 4 and we feel we recently found the absolute best movie of all time for our family: Mary Poppins! Our kids love it and think it is so magical. The music and dancing is so much fun! Our son also loves Cars but at first he was scared of the combine. They also love Charlotte’s Web. It could bother some children since they’re trying to keep Wilbur from being killed. Also, Tigger and Pooh and a Musical Too which is just an hour. We watch parts of movies like the Aristocats, 101 Dalmations, Bambi, and others but my son who is almost 4 is very sensitive and gets scared easily. He wants to turn it off or fast forward anything scary. Thankfully he lets us know he is frightened. When he was two he was having nightmares. He had repeatedly been requesting this Disney sing-along video with a short part that had witches and ghosts. He was also requesting this book called Lamont the Lonely Monster. We removed both of those and not long after the nightmares stopped. Even Toy Story 3 scared him and we left our first movie theater experience early. I’m eager to hear other suggestions as well.

Mama Mimi - March 30, 2011 - 1:03 pm

Ummm… YES on the Wiphan cookbook – it’s AMAZING!!!!! And I’ll be cooking from it a lot more once our produce stand opens back up. My grocery budget is HURTING, lol! And BTW I LOOOOOOVE your new header slideshow!!! Amazing family pictures!
