Peanut Butter…African style

If you have never had peanut butter naturually–then you are missing OUT! I had my first batch in Zambia in 2007 when the Wiphan widows made it in their wooden churns for us. I went right to the market and bought our family a wooden churn to bring home—only when I bought it, Kunda informed […]

oh, I wish that I had brought home a wooden churn from Yemen! Do you know where I can get one here? I love fresh peanut butter – and would love to have the kids entertained and get exercise at the same time!:)

Julie@Flitterbugs - May 19, 2010 - 3:21 pm

Love your boy’s heart. Precious!

Kim - February 24, 2010 - 5:20 pm

Oh our precious children! My oldest (14 yr) came up to me and handed me 100.00 and said it was for the Adoption fund. My reaction was the same as yours…”Are you sure?!” He was insistant and I was humbled. He had been collecting his birthday and Christmas money from family. Love these little world changers!

Shannon - February 25, 2010 - 1:13 am

Oh to have their faith! My 8 year old is such a giver and is always reminding me that those little extra things I like to throw in the cart at Target are not needs but wants and the money would be better used to help others. I’m trying to keep up with the reading…not too far behind!

I have wondered the same thing about the African American program. I prayed about it and didn’t hear a no, but a not now. So we wait right along with you and I have peace and know that my son is in Ethiopia no matter how hard it is to be patient right now.

Tracy - February 22, 2010 - 5:01 pm

I made these last summer and my guys gobbled them up in no time! I added a lil bee pollen and flaxseed and they didnt even know:)

Shelley - February 22, 2010 - 7:11 pm

Hey, I am typing my first comment on a blog. I read yours and Melissa’s everyday so here goes. I know how hard it is to wait and wait for what God has for us. I am not a good person to wait. I am a planner. I like everything planned. I am feeling the need to wait and listen to what God is telling me in all area’s of my life. I am not adopting but I am waiting with you on what God wants for me.

admin - February 22, 2010 - 8:09 pm

THANK YOU SHELLEY for your comment and words of encouragement! REALLY what I needed tonight! Yes, I’m not good at waiting either…it means SO MUCH to know others are walking the path of waiting on Him with me. Thankful you are here in Atlanta—it will be sweet to meet you one day…maybe at an airport with my little one FINALLY in my arms!!!!!

kristi johnson - February 22, 2010 - 10:10 pm

AFter losing our referral I questioned too..it is natural…BUT looking at LL…I know I was suppose to get to Ethiopia…And, with the number of orphans in Ethiopia..your son/daughter needs you to hang on…i promise things will pick up soon…I remember the frustrations..I really felt them when we hit the 6 month mark of waiting…praying your child is revealed soon 🙂 kj

Kim - February 23, 2010 - 8:25 am

YUM! Will be searching the market shelves to see if I can find all these ingredients in Hong Kong!
Love & Blessings,

Yum, that ham recipe looks wonderful. May have to add that to our list of things to try. And I’m all for a yummy dish that’s easy too! Thanks for passing it along. And love your weekly dinner with your friends. What a sweet blessing to have friends to live life with! Have a wonderful day!

Dawn - February 17, 2010 - 10:01 am

Love your lent tree…… 🙂 Love Matt 17:20 too!

Renea - February 17, 2010 - 11:36 am

You’re killin me with the recipes girl!!! Must…. have…. ham!! lol I’m stock piling recipes for next weeks menu. And where did I miss the Lent tree? I want details! That looks like a great activity for my kids. I still have a mustard seed bracelet that a woman gave me when I was about 8 years old. It’s always been my ‘lucky charm’. 30 years later and it’s still one of my favorite most cherished possessions. Link me up for the tree! Oh…. and I made my very first McKlinky today! And it worked! lol Check it out.

Andrea - February 17, 2010 - 2:57 pm

The guide to the Lent tree is under CRAFTS…under Easter:). It’s going to be a really meaningful 40 day journey!!!!!

Megan - February 17, 2010 - 5:34 pm

“How many of us avoid digging into the world’s issues and problems for fear we might have to do something?” — This statement you made really hit me hard. That used to be me. I didn’t want to know. I didn’t want to cry. I didn’t want to feel guilty. I didn’t want to have to do something. How funny that God turned that person into a mother with a heart for adoption. Now I DO know. Now I DO cry. Now I DO feel guilty. Now I DO want to do something. I don’t know where the verse is found…but goes something like, “once your eyes have seen you can not turn back”. How true it is. Thank you for being a stepping stone for opening my eyes to the truth.

Lindsey Petersen - February 17, 2010 - 7:45 pm

Congratulations on your new addition! Adopting is such an awesome way to add to your family!

I caught that too this morning about the sin offerings. They had to be burned outside of the camp no where near the Tabernacle. That just reminds me that I need to be pure & holy before God. I need to ask for forgiveness of my sins, even hidden ones, & ask Him to reveal them to me so that I can make my requests known to Him. God can’t be near sin, so we need to purify our hearts before we come before Him.

rockshan@skynetbb.com - February 18, 2010 - 2:40 am

So excited to get started on the tree! Doing it a little different since I slacked on getting all the ornaments. For this year I’m just pulling together some clip art to represent all of the items. Might not be as fun as the actual ornaments but I’m hoping the end result is the same! Megan, I really appreciated your comment! I totally relate…I didn’t want to know, didn’t want to cry or feel the guilt but now I stand asking God to send me. How can I serve them Lord? He is AWESOME! Proverbs 24:12
