Give Us a God Picture

Wednesday’s Scripture Reading: Numbers 14-15:41 Another WOW reading today. I think I could write a book on today’s reading. I think I’m going to have to jump around and toss out my thoughts though to get it all out! So…once again–bear with:) Numbers 14 – You think your toddlers whine? Well, get this—verse 1. The […]

Oh the conditions we all put on God….when in reality we have no reason to want anything other than HIS best for us. ๐Ÿ™‚

Shannon - March 5, 2010 - 1:03 am

The reading today and your words were such perfect timing! I’ve done a lot of whining this week. Not necessarily for “things” but just whiny about circumstances. Yuck! Forgive me Lord…Thy will be done! Thanks once again for making the scripture come alive!

Megan - March 5, 2010 - 1:11 am

First I have to say I LOVE your picture of Laney being little mommy. I’m sure my mom would tell you that it reminds her of me when I was little, lol! I carried a baby everywhere I went.
This is what I wrote in my Bible today next to chapter 14.
“God’s way. God’s timing. WITH God’s help. Obstacles we face are too great to be tackled alone but WITH GOD’S HELP, nothing is impossible.” When we take our eyes off of the big picture (the GOD picture) then it’s easy to get overwhelmed and complain. Keeping our eyes on Him will keep us focused on our blessings as well.
I have to admit that when we started this process we were both hoping for a double orphan as well. No longer. After learning more about WHY Birthparents give up their children, I am praying that we get to meet them…as hard as that will be.

I’m all over the place this week…and almost forgot to post this week’s reading. Are ya still with me people??? Don’t give up!!! How completely cool would it be to finish the year together?! OK…I need you people as much as you need me! Let’s spur one another on! Let us not give up on […]

You make His word come alive with truth and relevance!

Marci - March 3, 2010 - 10:06 am

I am a little ahead and in Joshua they blew their horns for 7 days straight …not a single word only horns…and the walls of Jericho came tumblng down ! I think I am going to wear a whistle and blow it each time sin enters my heart ! I am right their with yu on today’s reading in Numbers ! Keep it coming, Andrea !

Elle J - March 3, 2010 - 10:47 am

Andrea, you have a gift. I totally agree with Kim’s comment. Thank you for blogging the Bible Study Readings.

Nikki - March 3, 2010 - 3:04 pm

You’re doing great, Andrea! I’m a few days behind… after the heinousness of the last several weeks… but I’m catching back up… hopefully will be all caught up by the weekend. This accountability thing is WONDERFUL. If you think about it, please pray for our daughter’s test results; they should come back later today and we hope to have a better understanding of what she’s dealing with and next steps. Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lauren - March 3, 2010 - 3:54 pm

Thanks for stopping by!!! Kiersten is our case manager – though I’ve heard that they’re all fabulous! I’m praying for our # on Friday and have been told it’s right around 30 right now for the boys … so we’ll see! SOOO exciting though! You should get your March update soon, too, right? I can’t wait to see how much the numbers have decreased – hoping it goes fast! You have such a beautiful family!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Dawn - March 3, 2010 - 5:03 pm

Needed to hear that!

Megan - March 5, 2010 - 1:31 am

I’m finally caught up on readings too. And MAN Tuesday’s reading was great, I agree! I’m right there with you, looking to the left and the right wishing I had something I didn’t. And then in the next breath I’m furious at myself. Why can’t I have that? BECAUSE WE’RE ADOPTING!!! What do I want more? Some new makeup (or car, or jewlery, or clothes, or computer, ect) or my baby? Easy peasy, right? You would think! And yet I struggle with it EVERY DAY! Ugh….I make myself furious with myself. Reading 11:4-6 I was SO frustrated that they were seriously wishing to be back in Egypt! But how often have I done that? Reflect on the past because of difficult circumstances. Umm…every day maybe?!? So what’s the deal? My commentary (summerized) makes it simple. When you are no longer seeing with eyes of faith, you fail to see the big picture – the GOD picture. Keep our eyes on God and his promises.

Catchin’ up on reading! (One Year Bible Study)

So thankful for Sundays! A day of rest and renewal…and after arriving home last night back from Kentucky…I sure needed it! We were busier than we anticipated being at the conference leaving no time for blogging the One Year Bible Reading. Catching up this beautiful Sunday afternoon though! Thursday’s Reading: Levitus 25:24-26:46 Leviticus 25 offers […]

Collecting Coins, Yummy Recipe & One Year Bible Reading

COLLECTING COINS… This week, Parker’s school Fellowship Christian, has been collecting coins to raise money for Wiphan Care Ministries! The kids have gotten REALLY excited about collecting coins this year—if they fill up their classroom jar they get an ICE CREAM PARTY (YUM!). They only have 8 kiddos in the preK classes where the other […]

Love your boy’s heart. Precious!

Kim - February 24, 2010 - 5:20 pm

Oh our precious children! My oldest (14 yr) came up to me and handed me 100.00 and said it was for the Adoption fund. My reaction was the same as yours…”Are you sure?!” He was insistant and I was humbled. He had been collecting his birthday and Christmas money from family. Love these little world changers!

Shannon - February 25, 2010 - 1:13 am

Oh to have their faith! My 8 year old is such a giver and is always reminding me that those little extra things I like to throw in the cart at Target are not needs but wants and the money would be better used to help others. I’m trying to keep up with the reading…not too far behind!

[…] in Parker’s sweet school were working hard to sell things they made (you can read about it here) to raise money for […]

Our son’s name, Lent Tree & One Year Bible Reading

Our Son’s Name… Yes, we’re on both lists—for either a boy or a girl…BUT I feel pretty certain being #19 on the boy list and #30 on the girl list that we’ll get to #1 first on the boy list. You NEVER know…BUT—I’m excited to be able to tell you our son’s name…if in fact, […]

LOVE the name Isaac! Love the meaning you have behind it!

Andrea - February 23, 2010 - 2:55 pm

Thank you Leigh. I’m in love with that name so much already:)

julie@Flitterbugs - February 23, 2010 - 3:30 pm

I am sure your little Issac will fill you with Laughter when he is finally in your arms!

Dawn - February 23, 2010 - 4:06 pm

Love your post! Love the name too.

Hey, I have grown up in the church and didn’t realize that about the Sundays….hmmm….makes complete sense, just didn’t know it. Like you I don’t think of myself as a certain denomination either….we are CHRISTIANS ๐Ÿ™‚

Kim - February 23, 2010 - 4:46 pm

I did not know that about Sundays in Lent either. I love that we can always learn something new. I also learned the other day that “Alleluia” is to be hidden during Lent until Easter Sunday. The kids can make a banner, hide it, and then it appears along with their Easter baskets. Oh…and super love the name Isaac!

Trudy - February 23, 2010 - 5:48 pm

I love how you said that the story of Abraham and Isaac has repeatedly been placed on your heart. I felt the same way about the Visitation when Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth. We named our baby we lost through miscarriage Elizabeth. We have been in the fost/adopt program waiting for a match. We got the call on my husband’s birthday that we were matched with twins. What are there names? – John and Marie. When were they born? -on the feast of the Visitation.

When we are open, God prepares us for His perfect plan. Hope you will be welcoming Isaac home soon!

Jenny - February 23, 2010 - 5:57 pm

L.O.V.E the name Isaac! great choice!!!! and glad to hear if it’s a girl, she won’t be Isaac-ette ๐Ÿ™‚

Jenn - February 23, 2010 - 11:26 pm

Love the name here too! We are leaning towards Eli ๐Ÿ™‚ I really like the significance of the pairing of Samuel (our littlest) and Eli. There are some cool correlations with his priesthood…plus the name “fits” well with our other kiddos I think ๐Ÿ™‚

Hang in there girl!!!!
Jenn

Jenny - February 24, 2010 - 12:23 pm

Love the name and love your heart!!!! Thanks so much for the e-mail yesterday. Made my day! Praying for you on this journey. So excited for what God is doing in your family!

Habakkuk 2:3
“For the vision is yet for the appointed time;
It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail
Though it tarries, wait for it;
For it will certainly come, it will not delay.”

Megan - February 24, 2010 - 1:38 pm

I have to admit…I’ve fallen behind on the reading. ๐Ÿ™ Trying desperately to catch up.
LOVE the name Isaac and the meaning behind it!

Angie - February 24, 2010 - 9:19 pm

Oh Andrea I am smiling too ๐Ÿ™‚ I know God is smiling over your sweet Isaac right now. Precious.

Jennifer - February 24, 2010 - 10:01 pm

Love the name! Of course…you are talking to a mom with a Samuel and Josiah:-) Ya know the adoption road can be long and hard, but keep your eyes of Jesus. Don’t look to the left or right..but keep looking up! God’s plan is good! Sorry if I told you this already, but my Josiah has frequently said, “If we would have gone to Ethiopia, we would have our baby by now” (we started Aug. 08). I remind him that God didn’t call us to Ethiopia (this time) but our Abby is in India and that she NEEDS US TO WAIT! God is so good…still have his peace even through all the mess we are in now. One day we will have our Abby in our arms and you will have your Isaac!! That’s a great picture!!! Blessings to you!

Melissa Lazzara - February 25, 2010 - 2:54 pm

I LOVE the name, Isaac is so lucky to have you all for his forever family!
