Butterfly day…

A couple of weeks ago, Parker’s class had butterfly day in his Pre-K class. They had fed caterpillars for weeks…watched them build their cocoons and finally the date was set to let them go. We all met at the park to let them go home where they belonged…and one by one his teacher—who had help […]

So fantastic for those little ones (kids), more so for the bigs ones! Loved reading your thoughts!

Gini - May 18, 2010 - 2:50 pm

Wow, what a beautiful analogy…

Elle J - May 18, 2010 - 3:51 pm

Yes, a perfect analogy!! Love your writing. Our school does the same thing and last year I was waiting in my car for school to get out, sunroof and windows open, reading my book and hearing the Kdg class get all excited in their butterfly launch. The butterflies took off, the kids went inside, and the next thing I knew … I had a butterfly on the passenger seat of my car!! LOL!! I opened the door and the breeze got him excited to exit. Glad the Kdg class did not see. =)

Dawn - May 18, 2010 - 10:07 pm

Reminds me of some of our children. People said- they won’t fly…..the odds are against them…..why try to hope, but with GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! LOVE THAT ILLUSTRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

Jenny - May 18, 2010 - 11:01 pm

Just wanting you to know I’m praying for you right…. NOW!

Heidi - May 18, 2010 - 11:46 pm

love this and it brought tears to my eyes! Thanks for moving my heart. once again, another time I just needed to hear your words today! Such a great message of HOPE!

Kim - May 19, 2010 - 1:02 am

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS POST and the analogy it represents for your littlest one waiting for you all. I am cheering and believing from Hong Kong!
FLY ISSAC FLY!
Love you,
Kim

Chrystal - May 19, 2010 - 9:28 am

… ALL IN GOD’S TIMING. This story melted my heart, and as reading it.. I, too had hoped the butterfly just took off and soured into the sky. But, have to admit that when he said he plopped down on the ground, just the way you wrote it made me giggle out loud. ๐Ÿ™‚ I knew he would do it…. if anything else, because of FAITH from those precious children that know no different.

Praying for you friend.. harder than you know. I will standing up during prayer request tonight at church and asking for prayers. GOD IS ABLE… and He is at work RIGHT NOW to make the impossible.. POSSIBLE. (huge-huge hugs, because everything is going to be okay!!)…..

Trusting and waiting…and day by day in the mean time

Life in the Young home is keepin’ on keepin’ on, and no matter how upbeat I sound in my blog entries as of late—I have gotten a few emails from some of my close blog/adoption friends asking how I really feel right now. I don’t even know how to describe how I feel–and I’m doing […]

Praying for your heart. It is so hard when it feels like everything is out of your control and there is nothing you can do. Trust me, I know those aches and I am sure they are magnified by having a face to go with them.

on a lighter note, that picture of Frank sitting on the chair for the second time before you got him to smile, um…cutest thing ever. That is adorable and hilarious. What a cutie.

Megan - May 18, 2010 - 2:28 am

I love that thought of how God longed for us that much. Who are we…who am I that he would long for me? I’m nobody. I’m SO imperfect…I mess up CONSTANTLY. Really shows his love for us.

Thank you for your wise words in the midst of your hurting. I would be falling apart if I was in your shoes…I’ve fallen apart for less, that’s for sure. I admire your perseverence.

Lara - May 18, 2010 - 9:33 am

My heart hurts for you! I did love your pictures though. Redoing that chair looks like it was a tedious process – probably the kind of thing your need to keep your mind occupied these days. Praying for you –

Kim - May 18, 2010 - 10:54 am

All i can say is that I wish I lived next door.
You are heavy on my heart and faithfully in my prayers!
The photos are priceless and as always your post is God honoring.
Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus!
Love & Blessing from Hong Kong,
Kim

Shannon - May 18, 2010 - 1:45 pm

I’m with Kim…wished I lived next door so we could share some sweet tea, a cry, a laugh and some hugs. Praying for you sweet sister. LOVE the pictures of Frank…totally cracked me up! In my prayers~ Shannon

A sweet night…

After a long day…God had a sweet night in store for me. I was sitting in my back yard with Frank—enjoying the quiet (that is until the neighbor’s dogs started growling at is…if you have a trick for how to stop that one…lemme know;)…and again was taken back by all the beautiful things that surround […]

I’m always amazed at the ways God shows himself to us when we are “open” to it. I am sad that court didn’t happen today. I pray for little Isaac’s mom’s healing and give God praise for you and your wisdom. Sending you hugs from TN!

missy - May 14, 2010 - 1:31 am

i am sad that you didn’t pass court this time, but i am joining you in prayer for the next one. i am glad it is so soon. what a precious night god gave you. i am always touched by the perspective you have on things, but i know it is because you gain your perspective from a fresh encounter each day with the lord.

love the gift of your waitress god gave you.from injera to fried pickles…that’s one long journey! ๐Ÿ™‚

Shannon - May 14, 2010 - 1:42 am

I am so glad you had this evening. I’m smiling just thinking of the laughter. I am so thankful for the women God puts in our lives that we can cry hard with and laugh even harder with! Beautiful thoughts and pictures. Praying.

april - May 14, 2010 - 1:45 am

so glad the Lord gave you this wonderful evening full of reminders of His love!

Tracy - May 14, 2010 - 6:05 am

I’ve been in your shoes with the anticipation of passing court, only to receive news that you didnt. Its such a disappointment. Hang there. His timing is PERFECT!

Becca Harley - May 14, 2010 - 7:03 am

julie@Flitterbugs - May 14, 2010 - 8:00 am

I woke up multiply times last night thinking about Isaac’s Bmom…thank you for giving us the chance to love her!

Chrystal - May 14, 2010 - 9:25 am

Andrea, God is watching over you & that sweet baby Isaac.. protecting your heart in ways that only He knows how. I shared your news yesterday with my sister in law, who is adoption from Tawian, about not passing court and just how your post from the previous day couldn’t have been any more perfect for what news was awaiting the next day. THY WILL BE DONE. I hit refresh on my computer NO LESS than 10 times yesterday morning, awaiting the news. I KID YOU NOT. You are on my mind and on my heart SO VERY MUCH I think it would blow you away. God has used SO MANY of His people to PRAY for your family & for that sweet, sweet baby Isaac. In my heart today, I feel that maybe the reason WHY all this is happening is because little Isaacs birth mommy NEEDS PRAYERS FOR HEALING. Think about the AMOUNT of people that now know of her need, that are now lifting her up to the Lord and asking for complete healing. Not only for her, but for the other 6 precious children that she is caring for. There are so many unknowns in life… but we can rest assure that God watched over us, protects us, guides us, and loves us. Isaac’s birth mother & children are heavy on my heart right now, as I’m sure she is PLENTY of others. THIS IS SO GOD. He uses US to lift up those in need…

I am praying for you friend, my church is praying, my friends/family are praying… I can’t explain the connection that I have felt with you during this process. SO GOD. I love how He is reconfirming His hand through this amazing journey that you have allowed Him to take you on. I love your heart, I love your spirit, and that sweet baby boy will be in your arms soon, just where he belongs. Hang in there… keep the focus on all things GOOD.. oh, what a amazingly precious day that will be when you are holding that sweet baby in your arms. I am praying for you, friend….

Kim - May 14, 2010 - 9:57 am

I love how you approach your days … eyes wide open in expectant anticipation of God’s hand in the everyday details.
You inspire me.
Covering you and Isaac in prayer from Hong Kong!
Love ya,
Kim

Elle J - May 14, 2010 - 10:38 am

I can picture this perfectly. The girlfriends that can make your side ache with laughter, shutting down restaurants, and spending extra hours in a parking lot are THE BEST GNO’s! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not to mention the comfort and honesty you share in the difficult times too. God is so awesome!! Love your connections in all different points last night. Hugs to you, Andrea!!!

Gini - May 14, 2010 - 10:44 am

Oh, what a cool night!! Awesome God, indeed. ๐Ÿ™‚

natali - May 14, 2010 - 11:16 am

GOD works in mysterious ways, doesn’t He! Praying for you guys & Isaac’s birth mother and family.

Alison - May 14, 2010 - 4:05 pm

What a cool night…I just love it when God just brings so many neat circumstances together that is just undeniable…it’s all HIM!! So precious…praying for your next court date and your sweet baby boy!!

Katie - May 14, 2010 - 4:39 pm

Awesome! Just awesome!!

Crissy Sorenson - May 14, 2010 - 8:55 pm

The Lord did something like that for me a few weeks ago- I had read on someone else’s blog about them ‘happening’ to meet someone from Ethiopia, and I thought surely never in my small town…..so we were in Atlanta in front of our hotel and a man who worked there saw our Ethiopia sticker on our van and asked us about it. I probably scared the man, I scream, “can I hug you?!!?” and gave him a big ol’ hug, and we all talked for a while…he is so excited for us. It is so awesome- I didn’t even ask God for that and He knew one of the little desires of my heart!
BTW- our fam prayed for Isaac’s birth mommy during our family worship tonight…….we’ll keep praying!

Jackie - May 14, 2010 - 9:47 pm

I love to read this! It doesn’t surprise me one bit. I’m telling you it brings back such memories of how God would remind me that he was still in our adoption. It just puts a smile on my face and all I can do is shake my head. Yes, He is in this! Praying for your next court appointment!

Heidi - May 14, 2010 - 11:24 pm

I’m praying for you and your little miracle to be in your arms soon! God’s has the perfect timing and I know you know that:)
I just love your eyes that fully see God wonderful beauty!

Waiting and trusting in the Lord…

How do you get water to boil? You stare at it of course;). No. We all know not to stare at water waiting to boil. I have tried the same thing during our adoption wait. Each month, I would hold my cell phone in hand waiting for it to ring. I’d check my email–I confess […]

Caytie - May 10, 2010 - 10:32 pm

oh Andrea…I am praying for you….I am singing the same familiar song as we are on our journey also. “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3(notice how the Lord is said twice in this verse)

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phillip. 4:7

Amy @ Filled With Praise - May 10, 2010 - 11:10 pm

I am praying for you Andrea. I am also praying with you for your family and your sweet Isaac to be united in HIS timing. Much love,
Amy

Megan - May 11, 2010 - 1:59 am

I think Frank and my Lil Monkey must be bout the same age. I find myself in your same position…longing for my baby, but wanting to cherish these sweet, sweet moments with my baby now. It’s sometimes the only thing that I find comforting about God’s timing right now. Praying with you for Thursday.

Marci - May 11, 2010 - 6:36 am

Praying for you every day in daily mass and through out…The Lord loves our prayers and the constant talking and trusting and obedience….relax. It will all happen beautifully for the conductor of the universe has each of you in the palm of his hand . Angels are protecting each of you. Don’t let Satan in any way destroy the JOY you feel right now. I am convinced he is miserable to see the love you are sending to the world to love the orphaned and God has made you ,Andrea, Isaac’s mom. It is sealed and I believe Isaac will be in your arms soon to feed and heal well. All the love ya’ll have and the laughter is the medicine Isaac needs. Your sweet children will get their brother strong. Ahhh, love sweet love …their are no boundaries.

Marci - May 11, 2010 - 6:37 am

Oops…there are no boundaries for love ! Misspelled word above …too early.

Jenn - May 11, 2010 - 9:06 am

On our knees for you too. Hang in there friend!!!!!

Jenn

april - May 11, 2010 - 10:54 am

oh andrea, your post made me cry! A friend and I were just talking last night about how she see’s God’s magnificent power and beauty in flowers and how He chooses when to bloom them and then I read your post! Beautiful! Since we are hopefully getting on the waiting list this week, we will have a time of waiting! We’ve have plenty of other times of waiting in our lives including 4 years of waiting as we tried and had four miscarriages but this time, the waiting will be yes hard in a way but also more hopeful and exciting knowing once the waiting is done we will be holding a precious baby in our arms that God decided we would raise before time began! What a great God we have!

Praying the scriptures over your children… (a must share pearl of godly wisdom)

One of my mommy mentors shared this pearl of godly wisdom with me—and it is a must share. I think there is such value in having mommy mentors—but it can also be hard to connect some times with one…much less several. SOOO…trust that I’ll be sharing any gems and pearls when they come my way. […]

What an awesome idea! I had a friend do this for my husband and I. We were going through some tough times with our adoption. She had been praying scriptures over us and gave them to me on index cards just to let me know. She punched a whole in each corner and tied them together with ribbon. I keep them on my nightstand so that when I feel worried I can look at the scriptures and remember.

Shannon - May 4, 2010 - 10:50 am

oohhhh…I love this! Getting myself some spiral notecards today! Also, thought you might like to know that our pantry door is completely covered in chalkboard paint. Months ago I drew Africa on the board and hearts for places and people we’re praying for. Our sponsored children in Swaziland, Katie Davis in Uganda, Wiphan, Hannah’s Hope and now sweet Isaac is up there right next to Hannah’s Hope. Every time we get into the pantry (which is often:)) there’s a little blue heart there reminding us to send up some prayers for your baby Isaac. Praying him home SOON! Shannon

Elle J - May 4, 2010 - 11:04 am

First things first for me in the morning. Grab my hot cocoa (not a coffee drinker) and head to my laptop before the kids get up. Sad face when your blog hasn’t been updated (keep checking back) and then happy face when there is new info to learn!!! Brilliant idea ~ I am so doing this (one for me/hubby too) ~ and my kids are old enough to read their book left behind on their nightstand. Happy Day to You!

Kim - May 4, 2010 - 11:20 am

Okay … this is like an early Mothers Day gift for me. I am heading out first thing in the a.m. to buy my notebooks (one for my hubby too). I just LOVE it!
Thank you for all the ways you continue to bless my days!
Praying for that court date!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

Lara - May 4, 2010 - 11:31 am

Great advice! I am in the middle of several books that discuss this idea. Recently the importance of praying for my family has been on my heart a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Leigh - May 4, 2010 - 11:34 am

I love praying scripture for my babies already (even without their sweet faces) but I LOVE the idea of having a book to remember what you prayed for each child at specific times! Thanks for sharing!

Chrystal - May 4, 2010 - 11:55 am

I LOVE this idea!!!! I will be doing this for all 5 of my girls, love-love-love it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Angela - May 4, 2010 - 2:12 pm

I love the idea of putting these in a notebook. We’ve used the book “Praying the Scriptures for your Children” by Jodie Berndt too.

Gini - May 4, 2010 - 2:25 pm

Oh, absolutely love this idea! We all need more of that in our lives here. ๐Ÿ™‚ Praying for your court date! ๐Ÿ™‚

Jennifer - May 4, 2010 - 3:43 pm

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!! I made a great little journal like this once and put lots of ribbons tied to the spirals! ๐Ÿ™‚

Becca Harley - May 4, 2010 - 4:53 pm

What an amazing idea!!!! I am going to do one for each of us!!!
Happy Tuesday!

Marci - May 4, 2010 - 5:28 pm

Precious ! Isaac’s Psalm 91 is so true for he is being protected and will be with you all soon ! Did you see my idea of the Prayers Angels for your Isaac?

Rory - May 4, 2010 - 7:18 pm

Love this idea! Funny God’s timing. A couple of weeks ago I really felt prodded to get some spiraled index cards. I knew I needed to get some Scriptures written down on them again. Then I pulled up your post today and Voila! Now I know exactly what God wants me to do with them…(side note: One of the words He gave me for 2010 was that it was going to be a “passage” year…a year of going through to the other side, and a year of Scripture passages to do it.) This just all fits together and I’m very excited to write in mine tonight! Thank you!!–Rory

Brianne - May 4, 2010 - 8:01 pm

LOVE IT! I can’t wait to get to the store tomorrow and get started on them!! Such a wonderful way to pray for our children and what a story it will tell in time!! My husband also started a journal for each of our kids when they were born and write in it every so often and he hopes to give it to them when they move out and I write and seal a letter to each of our kids on their birthday and have them tucked away in their keepsake buckets to open one day. I hope they will treasure these little things!!

Jenny - May 4, 2010 - 8:20 pm

Oh WOW…. this is GOOD stuff! I LOVE it! I love that you use pics on the front. I am definitely going to be investing in some of these booklets. Thank you for sharing! I’m always encouraged when I come to your blog:)

Kim D. - May 4, 2010 - 9:16 pm

thank you so much for that idea- i love it! Praying for that court date!

marcy - May 4, 2010 - 9:34 pm

This is the BEST idea — LOVE it!!! Thanks for sharing…

Sara - May 5, 2010 - 12:48 am

I love love love this idea…if I could just get the rest of the things checked off my to-do list, I could get started! ๐Ÿ™‚

Shelley - May 5, 2010 - 5:52 pm

I love this idea. I got mine yesterday and started last night. I thought I would also do one for my husband and I. We both picked two verses for the month and wrote them down. It was neat to see what we both picked for us to pray about for our marriage.
